Newton Poppleford Cricket Club Lost

Match report Exmouth batted first and started scoring quickly, 31 from the first two overs. They have a batsman who hits it very, very hard. When he retired the run rate slowed for a bit but the extras were still adding up. A late surge saw them to a somewhat insurmountable 170.
Newton had nothing to loose and were keen to have a go but the first two overs didn`t produce many runs from the bat, about 6 i think, but we still managed to put 30 on the board! Extras top scorer at this point. Kenny hit a few big shots before a quick single caused a pulled hamstring and a retirement. Alex and Rich got the 3`s going and after a couple of maximums Rich retired. By now the run rate was getting higher but a brief glimmer of hope was produced by Alex and Tom until Alex was caught. Alan was run out without facing a shot (again) when the bowler got a limp hand to the ball and deflected it on to the stumps with Alan backing-up. Tom retired but 60 was needed from the last two overs. Matt attempted some big hits but the fat-lady was already well warmed up.
