Club Updates

30 Mar 2021

Members

The Club's Management Committee met on Sunday 28 March to discuss issues relating to the forthcoming season.

There are several issues decided at this meeting that members should be aware of.

Temporary Membership 2021

The Club's Management Committee has agreed to allow temporary membership for the 2021 season. This level of membership has been agreed to accommodate guests or any new members who wish to play matches before becoming full members. To ensure insurance cover is in place for those taking part in cricket activities temporary members must complete the following before taking part in cricket activities:

  • Individuals should complete the online form or email a request to be a member and receive a response from the club.
  • Temporary membership will be for a week starting from 10 am on the day of the activity or match to be played.
  • A fee of £5 for adults and £3 juniors will be paid as a combined match and joining fee.
  • All members will be required to sign a declaration that they have completed a membership form and paid a fee before the start of their first match.

Groundwork Day

Given the season is fast approaching the site screens need putting up and the score box will need a tidy and some repairs. Given the Rule of 6 remains in place until April 12, it has been decided that a group of 6 members will meet on Sunday 11 April to assess the requirements and progress works. If this establishes that a further date is required to complete any tasks this will need to take place before 22 April which is the first home match. Can anyone who can help on the 11th please let me know and I will confirm who is required to ensure we don't break any gathering rules?

T20 Vice Captian

Following the Club's AGM, Louis Adey contacted me to request that he be considered as Captian for T20 matches. Appointing Club Officers is strictly a task undertaken at the AGM on which members are required to vote. As such the Committee is not in a position to act on this matter. However, after some discussion, it was agreed that encouraging all members, particularly younger members, to engage and participate in the club should be encouraged. As such it was agreed that acting Vice Captians can be appointed by the Club Captain, in the same way, as was agreed at the AGM, to appoint a Captain, for such matches that the Club Captain is not present. It is hoped that in this way Louis (and anyone else who wishes to do so) can be allowed to work with senior players and the Club Captain to develop their leadership skills and make a case at the next AGM for taking on official roles.
