End of Season Ground Work

20 Sep 2021

Members

Our outdoor playing season has now come to an end but that's not quite all folks!

This Sunday (26th), the club needs everyone's help to complete important end of season groundwork. We are privileged to benefit from the support of Sidmouth CC and their Grounds Team in maintaining the square and outfield at NPCC. This significantly reduces the work required by the club to prepare pitches over the season. For this reason, I would hope that everyone can give a few hours to help this Sunday. Work required includes; packing away the sight screens, tidying the ground and most importantly helping to transfer the loam for the square from Sidmouth to Newton Poppleford. The loam then needs to be spread across the square. This can be hard work for a few but light work for the many!

We will aim to meet from 9.30 am at NPCC and the groundwork will aim to be complete by 12/1 pm.

If you have played this year and plan to play next then loaming of the square plays a significant role in ensuring good quality pitches to play on!

Please advise me if you CAN/CANNOT make it so I can organise numbers.

Following this work, there will be a club meeting (at the Cannon Inn) to discuss several important issues ahead of 2022. This is not a formal AGM but many of the subjects and discussions will directly relate to areas that will be considered at our AGM in the new year. In some cases, the Club Management Committee may need to advise of decisions that need to be taken before 2022.

The agenda will include:

  1. Finance update
  2. Membership payment status -- monies owing and refund policy.
  3. Groundwork ready for the 2022 season.
    1. Repair Sightscreem wheel
    2. Square post fixings
  4. Proposed tour for 2022.
  5. Fixtures 2022
    1. Ian French memorial match -- Sidmouth CC have suggested Sunday 30 April as a possible date at Sidmouth. There is talk of making this a sort of joint club launch to the season with some social as well ie. BBQ etc.
    2. Need to consider the NP Fun Day. Establish a date and whether we play that day or support/fundraise.
    3. How many fixtures and against who. Need to confirm with Richard how he should proceed.
  6. Sponsor and Kit Update for 2022.
  7. AOB.

We are a community club that wants everyone to be involved. Input is welcome from all members old and new.
